April Pin Up Profile- Betty Bacchanal

Each month, I will be asking all the important questions (and some less important ones) to a different inspirational person from within the pin up community. For April's Profile, I have spoken to Betty Bacchanal, creator of the 'What Betty Wrote' magazine.

If you would like to take part in a future edition of Pin Up Profiles, please get in touch!

How would you define your style? I would call my style retro, straight out of my grandma’s wardrobe. (vintage)

What drew you to that particular style? Going through the family album and seeing just how beautiful the outfits they have worn were and how elegant they looked. I loved it from the age of 16. I used to dress in my grandmother's clothes to play dressing up when I was little.

What are some of your favourite brands? Collectif, Lindy bop (which sadly is no longer but can still grab a few pieces here and there). Dorothy Perkins, surprisingly, & Marks & Spencer.

Who is your style icon? My Grandmother, most definitely.

Cats or dogs? Ohhh both! It used to be cats but now I have a dog lol soo both.

How long have you been into Pin Up/ Vintage style? I started wearing vintage from 16 and pin up from 25.

What was your most memorable wardrobe mishap? Flashing constantly when my dress blows up around London Bridge.

You now own a magic wardrobe- it’s the only way you can get clothes, they are all vintage and in perfect condition and it contains a never-ending supply of them. However, all the clothes must come from the same decade. What decade do you choose? 1940’s at best!

Who are your favourite musicians? Ohhh soo many to choose from but I'll go with Krewella!

What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of fashion? I love writing and hosting so now have my own show and magazine. My magazine is called What Betty Wrote and the show's name is Slayers Hot Source ( Part of Carnival Slayers).

Have you got any tips for someone just starting their pin up/vintage style journey? Be bold and go with what you like. No one has the establishment or right to tell you what works and what doesn't. Feel yourself, be yourself and be bold with it.

What’s your favourite TV show? Abandoned Engineering.

And finally… tell us your favourite random fact. I have lived through earthquakes, a seaplane crash, boat fires, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornados and sandstorms!

If you'd like to follow Betty and see some of her amazing vintage looks and sneak peeks of what's coming up in What Betty Wrote, you can find her on the Instagram links below.

Thank you so much to Betty for being this month's guest on Pin Up Profiles!
